The Gospels say Jesus cast demons into swine. I do not believe the story fits?

I asked a Rabbi. The district of the Gardesenes was 13 miles inland from the sea of Gallilee. There were no lakes. 13 miles is a long way for pigs to run. Secondly, pigs can swim. The Church obviously invented this story.
