Looking for easy topic for history essay (easy 10 pts)?

I have to rite a history essay but first I have to pick my own topic. I am planning on writing at least 3 full pages on it. It has to be an event from the age of enlightenment or the scientific revolution between 1450-1800 and still have an effect on USA and/or the world (though I prefer if it helped usa and the world or just usa).
