How long do you BOIL beef tips & hamburger meat 4 a stew, plz only answr for BOILING IT?

The reason I insist on knowing how long to boil the meat is because that's how my mom used to always do it. I know all of the ingredients that go in it & I made a few times, years ago. I'd like to make it for mom now. She is elderly now & doesn't remember very much, that's why I can't ask her. She never put it in the oven or fried it or anything. She always boiled it. She included beef tips & hamburger meat. I think the tips boiled first, then the hamburger came later. I just don't remember how long she boiled it, for it to be done & how long it was boiled before the canned veggies & crushed tomatoes, etc...were put in...thanx!
