Do you feel bad for record stores?
I feel myself listening to free music online and it makes me feel guilty because I enjoy record shopping so much. I still go to a local record stores (Zia records. There are about 4 in Phoenix.) I hit this store at least twice a month. I am one of the few people I know (along with my girlfriend) that still purchases cds and appreciates an album for more than just one or two tracks. I enjoy the packaging. The art. The thank you's. The lyrics for god sakes. Buying the album not only gives you a better understanding of the band/artist, but benefits them as well. Being so much into the metal//indie scene, Best Buy is not just the place for me. The employees at this store are rarely helpful unless it is a manager who is kissing a** to get more people in the store. Just as Blockbuster and movie rental stores are dying, so are record stores. If record stores were smart...to save themselves...they would offer a download service in store. Take in a thumb-drive. Insert in computer. Download at store for cost of an album (maybe a few dollars less.)
